Simple Deer Roast
Here is my favorite and simplest way to cook a deer roast. All I do is place a boneless deer roast in a McCormick “Bag’ N Season” Pot Roast bag with water and supplied seasoning and cook at 350 degrees for 3-3.5 hours. These roasting bags hold a 3-4 lb deer roast, just make sure the bag tie is aiming up so the water does not leak out during cooking. The main thing i do that’s different from the instructions on the back is I add 16 ounces of water , which is 8 times more water then the package states, I increase the water because the deer meat is so lean and I want to make gravy from the juices. I also don’t cook any vegetables with the meat, because I think the seasoning overpower the vegetables taste, but that’s just me. When its done cooking in 3 -3.5 hours, I use the juice to make awesome gravy, just add flour no salt or spices needed. This is so simple to make and so good when done, you have to try it.
